FAQs for ‘Ayiti Forever’ Fundraiser
Q: What are you fundraising for? What’s happening in Haiti?
A: Only about 60% of Haiti's 8 million residents have access to any form of health care services, according to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). Most people rely on public facilities where they must pay a minimal fee based on income and family size. This situation is compounded by the recent socio-political upheaval. So we are fundraising to help a prominent nonprofit provide essential healthcare services on the ground.
Q: Who will benefit from receiving these funds?
A: We are partnering with a health equity nonprofit (Health Equity International) and all proceeds from today will help with their direct services in health centers/hospitals in Haiti.
About HEI Health Equity International (HEI) has been providing essential health and support services to those in need for more than 40 years. At HEI, they believe everyone has the right to be well. By working in partnership with the communities they serve, they are helping more people access the tools they need to live the healthy, stable, and productive lives they want for themselves.
Q: Is there a way to keep track of the fundraiser and the goals?
A: If you follow @cosmiczo on Instagram, you will see updates about the fundraiser.
Q: How else can we help Haiti?
A: Feel free to donate directly to HEI at healthequityinternational.org. Other organizations that support groundwork in Haiti are CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort), Partners in Health, and Hope for Haiti Foundation. Some local organizations that help Haitian migrants and refugees are Association for Haitian Women Boston and True Alliance Center.
Q: How did the artist make the products?
A: The original design was inspired by old Haitian stamps and was created with acrylic paint and digital work. Tammi produces each bag by printing the image, cutting it out, and then adhering the design onto a canvas bag using a heat press.
Q: What’s the best way to clean the bag and protect the artwork?
A: Turn the bag inside out and machine wash it in cold water with color-safe detergent ideally on its own. Remove promptly as colors may run if left wet for too long. Tumble dry on the lowest setting. Do not iron directly on the design.
Q: Do you plan to support other humanitarian/social causes in the future?
A: Yes, we do plan to do more fundraisers in the future! Stay tuned!
